Product Care and Use

Product Care & Use

At Cul-De-Sac Coop, we take pride in offering goods that are simple, natural, and intentionally crafted. To help you get the most from your purchase, we've included general care instructions for both our hatching eggs and handmade items.

Hatching Eggs

  • Storage Before Incubation: Keep eggs in a cool (55–65°F), dry room away from direct sunlight. Store with the pointed end facing downward. Do not wash the eggs, as this will remove their natural protective coating.
  • Timing: Eggs are best incubated within 7–14 days of lay date. The fresher the egg, the better the hatch potential.
  • Shipping Expectations: Natural imperfections, air cell shifting, and transit stress are possible during shipping. Handle eggs gently and allow them to settle for 12–24 hours before incubation.

For full instructions, see our Incubation Tips page.

Handmade Soaps (and Future Products)

  • Storage: Keep bars in a cool, dry place away from direct heat or moisture until use. A breathable container (like a basket or drawer) is ideal.
  • Use: Handmade soaps last longer when kept on a draining soap dish between uses. Avoid letting them sit in standing water.
  • Ingredients: We use natural oils, butters, clays, and essential oils. Each batch may vary slightly in color or texture - this is part of their charm.
